This week has been sprinkled with mini adventures due to the heat!
We’ve been making sure to walk the boys really early in the morning and late on in the evening to ensure they don’t get too hot.
The boys also have the paddling pool in the garden have been spending most of their days this week rotating between napping, paddling, sun bathing and repeating!
We’ve seen all the posts being shared on social media about not walking dogs in this weather – and to some extent I agree – obviously I wouldn’t walk them in the middle if the day or when the temperature is too high, but both of the boys (and me) would go completely stir crazy if walks were completely stopped.
At the end of the day you know your dog best and as long as they are happy and comfortable that’s all that matters!
We’ve been doing more indoor enrichment to keep their minds busy and making sure they get a semi interesting walk in the evening!
On Tuesday evening we went for a late night adventure to Teggs Nose Country Park, which was lovely and peaceful and we got to see the sunset which was beautiful!
That’s been the first uneven terrain we have walked Amos on since his op and he did amazingly well!
It made for some beautiful pictures whilst we were out to!
Wednesday we had a late night lake trip which was cut slightly short as we found a stray dog so had to try and re-unite him with his owners – we did after about half an hour or find out who he belonged to – he’d managed to escape the garden!
Thursday evening is training night for Amos so Toby has a peaceful evening at home and a solo walk when I got back.
Friday evening after a hectic day in work I took the boys for a late night climb up the Cloud in Congleton, this is more rocky underfoot and there are lots of big jumps that Amos needed to navigate, as usual he used Toby to work out his surroundings and followed in Toby’s mountain goat footsteps!
The trip up the cloud also meant Amos bagged his first trig point photo (he has been walked at the cloud before but never made it to the top as he wasn’t able to walk that far)
We also got some more beautiful sunset photos! (It’s been the week for them!!) the only slight problem which I had not considered was the descent from the top of the cloud takes you through a woodland – which was pitch black by the time we were walking down! So we quickened the pace down back to the safety of the car!!
We’ve had a very relaxed Saturday, a trip to the pet shop to stock up on treats and frozen goodies to help the boys through the hot spells and to get some new stuff for them to try!
Our Saturday evening has ended with the boys tucking into the bones we picked up from Ginger and Browns – Amos has taken his out into the garden and Toby is sat on a towel in the living room eating his delicious frozen beef bone 😂
Billy and I have finally had our date night to celebrate our third anniversary – we went out for a meal whilst the boys napped 😍
We hope you’ve had a good week and you or the pups aren’t suffering too much with the heat!
