Schnauzer Saturday!

Today we went for a play date with Toby’s lady friends Esme and Greta who are beautiful miniature schnauzers 😍

Without fail however the weather is always horrendous whenever Toby and his lady friends try to have a play date! It is kind of handy as this little group of friends are a little on the antisocial side  they (much like me) like their own space! 😂

We went to visit Gus and Bear first thing as they were having their salon opening, the woofers got given celebration cake and a tour of the shop & Salon which was beautiful, lots of beautiful collars and leads (I managed to keep away from that temptation …. 😂) tonnes of food, toys and treats and comfy beds to try ☺️

We’d thoroughly recommend going for a little mooch and shopping experience!

Toby made friends with the very handsome Poodle Alan and also met Elsa (pawsacrossBritain) from Instagram – we didn’t get a photo of Elsa unfortunately!

Once we (humans) had a good mooch around the shop and the pups had sniffed every inch to their hearts content we made our purchases and headed back to the peaks & snow for our adventure!

We headed to Mam Tor (interesting choice in the snow) making sure we used the correct car park this time! Which I’m very very glad about as I’m not sure my car would have made it up Winnats Pass in the snow/sludge 😩

We had a fairly short walk whilst at Mam Tor – we got to the top and were literally being blown off our feet! It was so windy and so cold! The path was also super slippy as it was compacted snow and sludge! We took the woofs to a section out of the wind so they could have a run around in the snow!!

After a good old run around the woofs and us were feeling very cold so headed back to the car to warm up and head back for a hot drink!

I think I would have enjoyed the snow more if my wellies didn’t have a giant hole in so I could have waded more than walking boots allowed and we weren’t being blown away but as always the woofs had fun and it was lovely to have a catch up with their human! ❤️

Toby is having a well deserved snooze now, catching up on his sleep before heading to work with me tomorrow!

Hope you’ve all had a fun filled Saturday 🤓

Happy Hump Day! 🐪

Today I was off work so Toby and I had a midweek adventure to look forward to!

It’s been really nice having Wednesday off, felt like a super short week and back in tomorrow for 2 days before my next adventure day!

Today’s adventure was to Dovedale in the Peak District.
We did the Dovedale to Milldale walk which is about 6 miles in total.

It’s a gorgeous walk, I have to say I much preferred it today as there were less people about, the last time I went was a Saturday and it was very busy!

The stepping stones are of course amazing and it was lovely to be able to get some photos done there today without having to worry about holding up other walkers!

The walk follows the River Dove from the Dovedale car park into Milldale.

There are a few sections that are uphill (but nothing major) the walk for the most part is fairly flat and other than a section at the beginning and a short section at the end is great to let woofers off lead (well behaved woofs of course 😋) it’s also a great walk as no map or route plan is really needed! You just follow the river 😂

Today the weather was a touch moody but we didn’t get rained on! It looked like there had been a lot of rain however as the river had burst its banks in place – I discovered quite unfortunately that my welly has a hole in the bottom today …. so I have had a rather soggy foot for 6 miles 😂

Toby had a whale of a time, other than the two short sections where there is livestock he was having fun off-lead most of the time so he got to paddle, climb and pee up things to his hearts content!

We also spied some caves on the route (we didn’t explore as I am a wuss – but next time the better half comes out to play I’ll make him be my escort into the caves 😂)

If you fancy a fairly easy walk in the Peak District we’d recommend giving this a go! It’s just over an hour away for me in the car (slightly longer today as the Sat Nav had her own agenda) and costs £3.00 to park the car all day.
There are toilets at the car park too but they cost 20p a visit!

Thanks for reading – hope you all had a happy hump day! ❤️

Adventure Day ⛰

Today was this weeks adventure day as I’m working both days at the Dogs Home this weekend!

We decided we would head to Kinder Scout ⛰

If you’ve never done the walk at Kinder I highly recommend it, we usually do the Hayfield to Kinder Downfall Walk.

I sometimes chop and change the route however as I’m a wuss and am petrified of Cows! So if it’s just me and Toby we usually do an alternative route to avoid the cow field 👍🏼

Today we didn’t go all the way to the Downfall however as the weather on the ridge wasn’t the best and it was super misty, which although was a sensible choice is a shame as I LOVE the Downfall! ❤️

Toby as always was a super mountain goat, he always finds good paths to follow on the difficult sections!

The climb up Kinder is so fun lots of cris crossing over the stream and climbing up rocky sections, one section is climbing up a rocky stream which is loads of fun …. even though a touch slippy 😂

Once you get to the ridge the views are incredible!

We came down the wussy way today to avoid any cows (if we’d have carried on to the Downfall we’d have had to go through the big scary cow field) even though it was the wussy way it was still a challenge (we didn’t fall though! Points to me and the little dude!)

After adventure day we had another fun evening at Training – it was the last Talent Taster session today, Toby learnt how to roll out the carpet (preferably a red one) and took on the maze challenge – I can’t attach a video on here sadly but I’ll pop one on my Facebook for anyone who is intrigued 😂

Hope you all have a fun filled weekend! 🖤

Thank goodness it’s the Weekend 🐾

Toby was back at school on Friday night for his Talent Taster class.

It was such fun – this weeks class was introduction to competitive obedience.

90A23335-8F98-4BC5-9B12-AA26205BBD1ASo Toby is pretty good at his obedience training and loves learning new things – yesterday was really interesting and has given us lots of things to practice at home, including pivoting! 😂 We’ve got one more Talent Taster class next week which me and Toby are looking forward to!!

I’ve not been feeling very well since last night (Billy and his germs!!) so only did a mini adventure with Toby today, we went exploring at Mam Tor.

My silly sat nav took me to the middle of nowhere however but we gave it a go from where we abandoned the car 👍🏼
(On the way home I found the car park we should have used – right next to the start of the walk😂)

It was a beautiful walk – my shoes would disagree – we had to wade through some rather muddy areas ….. Toby is the official Teflon dog however, I get caked in filth and he’s pristine!

It was really busy at the top, there were loads of people paragliding! Toby as usual got some looks of admiration when I popped him on the trig point for his photo op! 😋

As always we got lots of comments about Toby’s adventure pack whilst we were out! We also got some comments about his poppy today also!

We didn’t stay out too long today as I say I wasn’t feeling too good so we only stayed out for just over 2 hours, but Toby thoroughly enjoyed himself!

When we next visit we’ll park in the correct place and stay out later so we can explore a bit more! ❤️

I was brave and walked through a field with cows in all on my lonesome (Pat on the back for me😋)

The trip home brought us through Winnats Pass – which in all honesty I didn’t think my car would make it up! But the little brum made it and did me proud!😍

Hopefully I’ll be feeling better tomorrow, Toby’s got a busy day accompanying me to work so at least if I still feel unwell he’ll cheer me up!!

Hope you’ve all had a fab Saturday!

The National Pet Show!

So this weekend we are at the National Pet Show at Birmingham NEC.

Toby as always has more luggage than me!! He’s got a suitcase to himself and I’ve got a hold-all 😂

Our first day was so exciting, there were lots of familiar faces as lots of the stalls are the same as last year so Toby was recognised by a few people! 😍

Our first purchase of the Show was a new bed, which is a snuggle sack from the lovely Bear & Noodle 🐶
Toby absolutely loves it – in fact he made himself right at home on the stand choosing this type of bed (made the decision easier for me 👍🏼)
Bear & Noodle are a Cheshire based company that make gorgeous homemade beds and blankets 😍

We did lots of fundraising on the stand and met lots of new people, Toby as always just loved being fussed constantly, he met lots of little people (which are his favourite) and got lots of cuddles! We did two shows in the ring also, which was fun as our display was about temptation alley which is always great fun!!

Our final purchase of Day 1 was a new toy from Julius K9, which Toby absolutely loves as he really likes footballs, but normal sizes are just too big for his mouth, so his new mini one of perfect!!

We also had the pleasure of meeting Ziggy Trixx the amazing Staffordshire Bull Terrier trick dog, him and his owner Dem were just lovely! Toby didn’t get too close as he was feeling a little grumpy due to disturbed sleep (silly fireworks)

Mr Supervet always has an after party on the first night of the show so we found ourselves a comfy seat to wait for his speech.

A few members of the team shot off afterwards to have a photo with The Supervet, so me and Toby made use of the quiet areas and did some skating 😂

Back at the hotel afterwards Toby made himself at home with his new bed and braved the scary fireworks until bedtime!

Day 2!

We were up bright and breezy ready for our second day at the National Pet Show!

We managed an NEC letters picture first thing! And even got to get a snap of Toby by Noel’s Ark 😍

We had another busy day of fundraising and another 2 displays in the ring, some socialising for Toby meeting lots of new people.

Toby was scouted to be a model for the morning for one of our neighbouring stands The Crazy Light Company, he
Modelled a light up winter coat for them which got him lots of attention! It was a lovely coat but as always Toby was slightly in between sizes which was a shame as he had a Velcro flap hanging around because he’s so skinny!

We went for a visit to Toby’s pals at the Vets Kitchen stand, did some skating for them and Toby got paid in some free treat bags 😍

We had a bit of disaster shortly after, Toby was with me on the stand doing his fundraising and acting as chief sales man (his little backpack was loaded with our stock) to entice people to purchase treats from us.
A lady we had been speaking to asked if Toby could have a doggy cupcake she’d bought earlier in the day, she handed it to me to give to him, which I did but unfortunately it got stuck in Toby’s throat and he started choking, I tried to dislodge it but couldn’t do it, thankfully a woman from a neighbouring stand, who I later learned was called Linda ran over flipped him upside down and did the doggy Heimlich manoeuvre, I am so unbelievably grateful that she was around and for her quick thinking and action.
I burst into tears and literally couldn’t stop crying for ages but Toby seemed absolutely fine after it was dislodged.
The on-site animal welfare consultant checked him over and was happy with him that he was doing okay!

Toby sends a big thank you to Linda from Celtic Connection ❤️

I took Toby outside for a break after (more to calm myself down) but he was back to his happy self thankfully!

Once I had calmed down we went back to having fun, did a little more at the stand and thanked Linda a billion times!

Our second day purchases were a new lead for when we go up mountains (it’s got a bungee section) and an agility tunnel!

We had our last display in the ring (Toby didn’t run in temptation alley after his incident earlier on) but he still went in to support the Dogs Home!

Overall we had an amazing weekend, Toby thoroughly enjoyed himself getting lots of fuss and attention, the cherry on top of our weekend is we won the top prize doggy photo shoot from one of the companies at the show we can’t wait to have that done and get some more beautiful pictures of my boy 😍

Thank you all for reading ❤️
